Substack is a publishing platform that makes it easy for anyone to post long-form writing online. They’ve also added notes, DMs, and other features, making it a viable alternative to Twitter.
What makes Substack stand out from other social media platforms, in my opinion, is that a culture of long-form writing and discussion means that Substack has more substance, and less pettiness or culture war.
I believe Substack in 2024 is akin to Twitter in 2018 - a place where you will soon be able to make meaningful real-life connections. For those of you familiar with TPOT, I posit that we’ll see a TPOS in the next few years (with some overlap with TPOT, and many new players). The goal of this class is to seed a small crew of New Yorkers who produce public-facing work that's directed at each other.
This class is for people who are new to Substack, or who want to use Substack more.
In this class, you will become a poster.
During regular class, we’ll do several Substack speedruns, where you’ll reply, publish notes, and work on articles. You’ll post prolifically in a short period of time.
In lieu of a bio, I’d recommend learning about Priya Rose by reading her Substack.
p.s. just saw this this morning
